Vincent Stanton Sanders was born in London in 1897, the son of Henry Frederick Sanders, a railway clerk, and his wife Amelia. From about 1913 he worked for Parr's Bank.

 

During the First World War Sanders left his job as one of the general manager's typists in the bank's London head office to join the army. By 1916 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Bedfordshire Regiment, on active service in France. He was killed in action on the Somme on 4 September 1916. He was 19 years old.

 

Vincent Sanders is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
