John Seddon

John Harrold Seddon was born on 17 April 1884, the son of Joseph Seddon and his wife Susan. In December 1903, when he was 19 years old, Seddon went to work for London & County Bank. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank and Seddon became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.
During the First World War Seddon left his post at the bank's London Lombard Street branch to join the army, becoming a Serjeant in the London Regiment. He died in France on 2 December 1917. He was 33 years old and left behind a widow, Ethel Phyllis Matilda. He was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry.
John Seddon is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
