Henry Norman Sharpe was born in Leyton, Essex, on 11 August 1895, the son of Philip Sharpe and his wife Constance. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank.
Sharpe served as a soldier and airman during the First World War, leaving his job at the bank's Princes Street office in London to join the army. He died on 26 January 1917 when serving as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Flying Corps and the Leicestershire Regiment. He was 21 years old.
Henry Sharpe is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
