Alfred Simm was born in Lancashire in 1894, the son of William and Sarah Ann Simm. He began working for Parr's Bank in about 1912.

 

During the First World War Simm left his job as a clerk at the bank's Salford Regent Road branch to join the army, becoming a Private in the Manchester Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 23 June 1917. He was 22 years old.
