Alexander Fisher Sellars was born in Dundee in 1898. In April 1915 he went to work for Commercial Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Methil branch.

 

During the First World War Sellars left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Private in the Seaforth Highlanders. He was killed in action on the Somme on 25 March 1918.

 

Alexander Sellars is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
