Joseph Frederick Leslie Parsons was born on 20 June 1896, the son of Joseph Parsons and his wife Laura Anne. In 1913, on his 17th birthday, Parsons went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In March 1915 Parsons left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Golders Green branch to join the army, becoming a Private in the Honourable Artillery Company. He died on 11 February 1917 of pneumonia, which he had contracted after spending a whole winter in the trenches. He was 20 years old.

 

Joseph Parson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Golders Green branch.
