John Porritt

John Frank Roy Porritt was born in Balham, London in 1899, the son of Arthur and Madeleine Porritt. In around 1916 he began working for Parr's Bank.
Porritt subsequently left his job in the general manager's department at the bank's London head office to join the army. Private Porritt of the London Regiment, attached to the Machine Gun Corps, was killed in action on the Somme on 11 August 1918. He was 18 years old.
John Porritt is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
