James Proctor

James Proctor was born on 4 December 1894, the son of Henry Proctor and his wife Sarah. He was educated at King Alfred's School, Wantage. In February 1913, when he was 18 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
During the First World War Proctor left his job as a clerk at the bank's Windsor branch to go on military service, becoming a Trooper in the Berkshire Yeomanry. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 21 August 1915. He was 20 years old.
James Proctor is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Slough Trading Estate branch.
