William Oliver was born on 6 February 1884. In April 1901, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for The National Bank.
During the First World War Oliver left his job at the bank's London Camden Town branch to go on military service, in the course of which he died.
William Oliver is commemorated on a bank war memorial at the Royal Bank of Scotland London Cavendish Square branch.
