Victor Noir was born on 14 October 1879 in Doussard, Haute Savoie, France. He began working for London County & Westminster Bank (Paris) upon its foundation in December 1913, as a messenger at its Paris office. The new bank had acquired the premises and some of the staff of Banque Franco Américaine upon its liquidation. Among them was Noir, who had worked for the latter bank since 1910.
Noir was mobilised in the French army at the outbreak of war, and died on 2 October 1914 at Lihons, Somme, while serving in the 52nd Regiment d'Infanterie. He was 34 years old.
