Leslie Gulliver Neighbour was born on 23 March 1894, the son of James Howell Neighbour, a clerk in a chancery judge's chambers, and his wife Elizabeth. In March 1911, just after his 17th birthday, Neighbour went to work for The National Bank.
During the First World War Neighbour left his job at the bank's London Baker Street branch to go on military service. By the following year he was a Second Lieutenant in the Lincolnshire Regiment. He was accidently killed in England on 16 August 1915. He was 21 years old.
Leslie Neighbour is commemorated on a bank war memorial at the Royal Bank of Scotland London Cavendish Square branch.
