Norman Molyneux

Norman Wadham Molyneux was born on 4 January 1881. In March 1899, when he was 18 years old, he went to work for London & County Bank. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank, and Molyneux became an employee of London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In January 1917 Molyneux left his job as a clerk at the bank's Chatham branch to join the army, becoming a Private in The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He was killed in action on the Western Front on 3 May 1917. He was 36 years old.

 

Norman Molyneux is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Chatham branch.
