Leonard George Moss was born on 31 May 1894, the son of Frederick Moss and his wife Elizabeth. In December 1913, when he was 19 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
In January 1916 Moss left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Caxton House branch to join the army, becoming a Private in the Honourable Artillery Company. He was killed in action in France on 1 April 1917. He was 22 years old.
