Eric Mouat-Biggs was born in Cheltenham on 20 June 1896. In August 1914, when he was 18 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
In early 1915 Mouat-Biggs left his job as a clerk at the bank's Bedford branch in order to take up a place at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He was later commissioned into the Lincolnshire Regiment. Second Lieutenant Mouat-Biggs was killed in action on the Western Front on 3 May 1916. He was 19 years old.
Eric Mouat-Biggs is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Bedford 81 High Street branch.
