Edgar Moore was born on 8 June 1894, the son of Alfred and Helena Moore. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its Leeds Union Bank branch.

During the First World War Moore left the bank to join the army, becoming a Lance Corporal in the West Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action on the first day of the Somme campaign, 1 July 1916. He was 22 years old.

Edgar Moore is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
