Donald Marvin was born on 10 October 1887, the son of Henry W Marvin and his wife Ella. In January 1904, when he was 16 years old, he went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as an apprentice at its London office. After completing his apprenticeship he remained there as a clerk. He was also a member of the bank's staff sports club.
Early in the First World War Marvin left the bank to go on military service, and by 1915 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Seaforth Highlanders. He was killed in action in France on 9 May 1915. He was 27 years old.
Donald Marvin is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
