Allan Duncan Morris was born in Chester on 29 November 1895, the son of Allan Morris, a brick manufacturer, and his wife Marion. He was educated at Wellington College.
In February 1912, when Morris was 16 years old, he went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as apprentice at its Conway branch. He completed his apprenticeship three years later, and was promoted to a clerkship at the same branch.
During the First World War Morris left his job at the bank to join the army. By 1918 he was a Lieutenant in the Welsh Regiment, on active service in France. He was killed in action there on 30 August 1918. He was 22 years old.
