Richard Ernest Leach was born in Chapeltown, Leeds in 1890, the son of William Leach, a schoolmaster, and his wife Mary. He began working for Parr's Bank in about 1907, and when he left the bank in July 1916 to join the army he was working at its London Earl's Court branch.
Lance Corporal Leach of the Royal Fusiliers was killed in action on the Somme on 4 October 1916. He was 25 years old.
Richard Leach is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London South Kensington Station branch.
