Louis Jean Laget was born on 11 August 1884 in Serignan, Vaucluse, France. In October 1913 he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank (Paris) as a messenger at its Paris office. He had previously, since 1910, been employed by Banque Franco Américaine, whose premises London County & Westminster Bank had acquired upon its liquidation.

 

Laget served as a soldier in the French army during the First World War. He was killed on 27 April 1915 near Malinbois, Meuse, in Eastern France. He was 30 years old and married.

 

In May 1916 Jackson left his job as a clerk at the bank's London head office to go on military service, becoming a Private in The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He died of enteric fever and pneumonia on 11 March 1917, at a casualty clearing station in France. He was 20 years old.
