Leonard Wheeler Killip was born in Liverpool in 1899. In April 1914 he went to work for Parr's Bank.

In June 1917 Killip left his job in the bank's Liverpool Fairfield branch to go on military service as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He died on 5 September 1918 of wounds received in action in France. He was 19 years old.
