Eric John Kenton was born in Eastbourne in 1897. In August 1914 he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank at its Greenwich branch. The following April he transferred to Erith branch.

In July 1915 Kenton left the bank to join the army, becoming a Private in the South Wales Borderers. He died in France on 16 September 1918. He was 21 years old.

Eric Kenton is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Bexleyheath branch.
