Bernard John Henry Knock was born on 10 June 1894. In February 1913, when he was 18 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
In January 1917 Knock left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Lombard Street branch to go on military service, becoming a Private in The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). He died in France on 26 October 1917. He was 23 years old.
Bernard Knock is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
