Stanley Fox Gore Jones was born on 18 December 1892. In May 1909, when he was 16 years old, he went to work for National Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its London office. He became a clerk there in May 1912.
In 1914 Jones left the bank to join the army, initially as a Private in the Honourable Artillery Company. He was posted to France in December 1914. He was commissioned into the Wiltshire Regiment in January 1917. Second Lieutenant Stanley Fox Gore Jones was killed in action on 7 June 1917. He was 24 years old.
Stanley Jones is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Gogarburn campus, Edinburgh.
