John Kershaw Huxley was born in Stockport on 9 March 1899, the son of John and Ada Huxley. In July 1914 he went to work for Manchester & Liverpool District Banking Co as a junior at its Manchester Withy Grove branch. He transferred to the bank's Manchester head office in October 1914, and to Cheadle branch in 1915.
In March 1917 Huxley left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Private in the East Yorkshire Regiment. He died on the Western Front on 27 May 1918. He was 19 years old.
