Harry Hargreaves was born on 29 November 1895, the son of William Henry Hargreaves, a gas stove inspector, and his wife Harriet. From about 1913 he worked for Parr's Bank.
During the First World War Hargreaves left his job at the bank's Manchester branch to join the army. Serjeant Harry Hargreaves of the 26th (Bankers') Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers was killed in action on the Western Front on 8 June 1917. He was 21 years old.
Harry Hargreaves is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Manchester City Centre branch.
