Ernest Stewart Heron was born in Lancashire in 1887. From about 1902 he worked for Parr's Bank.

During the First World War Heron left his job at the bank's Chester branch to join the army. He was first posted to the Western Front in July 1915, and by 1918 was a Lieutenant (Acting Captain) in the Cheshire Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 28 March 1918. He was 30 years old.
