Colin Hurrell

Colin John Richard Hurrell was born in London in 1894, the son of Robert Hurrell, a commercial traveller, and his wife Amy. From about 1912 he worked for Parr's Bank. He was also a member of the bank's staff sports club.

 

During the First World War Hurrell left his job at the bank's London Stratford branch to join the army. He was wounded in action in the Dardanelles in 1915, but was later able to return to active service, and by 1917 he was a Captain in the London Regiment. He was killed in action in Palestine on 2 November 1917. He was 23 years old.
