Arthur Leonard Harvie was born on 2 October 1878. He grew up in Bedford, where his father was a solicitor. In June 1895, when he was 16 years old, he went to work for Parr's Bank. He spent time working at bank branches in London and in Herne Bank. He was also a member of the bank's staff sports club.
In June 1917 Harvie left his job at the bank's London Cavendish Square branch to join the army, becoming a Private in the Northamptonshire Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 18 September 1918. He was 39 years old and left a widow, Maude, and 22-month-old son, Anthony.
Arthur Harvie is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
