William Graham

William Graham was born on 17 October 1891. In June 1907, when he was 15 years old, he went to work for National Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Rutherglen branch. He became a clerk there in June 1910, and in May 1912 transferred to Glasgow St Enoch Square branch. He returned to Rutherglen branch in October 1913, moved to Airdrie branch in 1914, and in August 1915 transferred to the bank's Glasgow office.
In January 1916 Graham left the bank to join the Royal Flying Corps (later the Royal Air Force). He died of pneumonia in Glasgow on 14 December 1918. He was 27 years old.
William Graham is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Gogarburn campus, Edinburgh.
