Percy Green

Percy Green was born on 16 July 1894, the son of a woollen merchant and tailor. In February 1911, when Green was 16 years old, he went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as apprentice at its Middlesbrough Linthorpe Road branch. After completing his apprenticeship three years later, he stayed on at Middlesbrough as a clerk. In February 1915 he moved to Hereford branch. The following month he spent a few days at Tunstall branch before moving on to Cardiff Roath branch.

 

During the First World War Green joined the army, and by 1918 was a Second Lieutenant in the King's Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry). He died in France on 9 September 1918. He was 24 years old and left a widow, Norah.
