Everard Henry Stephen Gomme was born on 8 October 1896, the only son of Walter Robert Gomme and his wife Kate. In October 1913, shortly after his 17th birthday, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
In October 1915 Gomme left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Hammersmith branch to join the army, becoming a Driver in the Honourable Artillery Company. He died of influenza on 15 November 1918, four days after the signing of the Armistice. He was 22 years old.

In helping with a house clearance for a late family member, we have come across a letter dated December 1918 from The County School Uxbridge, a rather lovely school photograph of Everard Henry Stephen Gomme and a commemorative plaque/ medal. We would like to make sure these items are returned to his family members. If you are related to Everard please contact the Nat West Archives office who will make contact with me.
