John Guy Frampton was born on 18 June 1889, the son of Henry Frampton, a mineral water manufacturer, and his wife Anne. The family lived in Weston-super-Mare.
Frampton had an older brother who went into banking, and Frampton himself followed the same path, albeit not in the same bank. He started an apprenticeship with National Provincial Bank of England at its Bute Docks branch in May 1906, when he was 16 years old. In November 1910 he moved to Newport, Monmouth branch as a clerk.
During the First World War Frampton joined the army. In May 1915 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Monmouthshire Regiment. By the time of his death in 1918 he was a Lieutenant in the same regiment.
Lieutenant John Guy Frampton died in France on 4 October 1918. He was 29 years old and left a widow, Gwenda, and one son.
