Wilfred George Edwards was born on 13 October 1897, the son of Lydia Annie Edwards. In August 1915, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
In May 1916 Edwards left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Oxford Street branch to join the army, serving as a Rifleman in the London Regiment. He was killed in action in Palestine on 27 December 1917. He was 20 years old.
Wilfred Edwards is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Dean Street branch.
