Eric Ben Evans was born in Ormskirk in 1895, the son of John Evans, a draper's assistant, and his wife Phoebe. From about 1911 he worked for Parr's Bank.
During the First World War Evans left his job at the bank's Birkenhead branch to join the army. Second Lieutenant Eric Ben Evans of the Lancashire Fusiliers died on 11 November 1917 of wounds received in action on the Western Front. He was 22 years old.
Eric Evans is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Birkenhead Charing Cross branch.
