David Eadie

David Eadie was born on 4 March 1896, the son of David Eadie, a foreman joiner, and his wife Marion. In July 1912, when he was 16 years old, he went to work for National Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Glasgow Sauchiehall Street branch. After completing his apprenticeship he became a clerk at the same branch.

During the First World War Eadie joined the army. By 1918 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). He was killed in action on the Western Front on 10 May 1918. He was 22 years old.

David Eadie is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Gogarburn campus, Edinburgh.
