Vincent George Duckett was born in Preston in 1895, the son of John James Duckett, a mineral water maker, and his wife Margaret Alice. From about 1913 he worked for Parr's Bank.

In September 1914 Duckett left his job at the bank's Maryport branch to join the army. By 1918 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry. He was killed in action on the Somme on 23 March 1918. He was 22 years old.
