Frederick Dutton was born in Stapeley in 1890, the son of Samuel Dutton, a farmer, and his wife Elizabeth. In about 1906 he went to work for Parr's Bank.

 

During the First World War Dutton left his job at the bank's Oswestry branch to join the army, serving as a Private in the Middlesex Regiment. He was killed in action on the Somme on 26 September 1916. He was 25 years old.

 

Frederick Dutton is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Oswestry branch.
