Wilford Bamforth Clarkson was born in 1890. From 1906 he worked for Williams Deacon's Bank.
In July 1916 Clarkson left his job at the bank's Rotherham branch to go on active service, and by 1918 was a Second Lieutenant in the York and Lancaster Regiment. He died of gas poisoning on the Western Front on 20 June 1918. He was 27 years old.
Wilford Clarkson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Hardman Boulevard office, Manchester.
