George Edwin Collins was born on 22 July 1894, the son of George Henry Collins and his wife Annie Maria. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its London Cripplegate branch.
Early in the First World War Collins joined the army, and by 1918 he was serving as a Second Lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade. He died on 11 January 1918. He was 23 years old.
George Collins is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
