Frank Cabburn was born on 14 September 1898, the son of John Cabburn and his wife Sophia Elizabeth. He was educated at Alleyn's School in Dulwich. In 1915, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
In February 1917 Cabburn left his job as a clerk at the bank's Foreign branch, London to go on military service. By 1918 he was a Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force. He was killed on 25 June 1918 when his plane was shot down while patrolling over German lines, only seven weeks after his arrival in France. He was 19 years old.
Frank Cabburn is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
