Charles Robert Peel Corbin was born on 20 September 1893, the son of Eustace Rhodes St Clair Corbin and his wife Linda Augusta Jane. He was educated at Dulwich College, London, and served in the college's Officers Training Corps.

In August 1911, when he was 17 years old, Corbin went to work for London County & Westminster Bank. He joined the bank's sports club, and was a member of the bank's water polo team. He was also a territorial soldier, serving in the West Kent Yeomanry.

At the beginning of the First World War the West Kent Yeomanry was mobilised, and Corbin left his job as a clerk at the bank's Chislehurst West branch to go on active service. Towards the end of 1915 he sailed for Gallipoli, where he was mentioned in dispatches. He was later commissioned in the Worcestershire Regiment.

Second Lieutenant Corbin was killed in action in Greece on 31 October 1916. He was 23 years old.
