Wilfred Barber was born on 29 October 1894. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its Bath Old Bank branch.
During the First World War Barber joined the army, and by 1917 was serving as a Second Lieutenant in the York and Lancaster Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 27 November 1917. He was 23 years old.
Wilfred Barber is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
