Percy Brooke was born in 1888, the son of Frederick Brooke, a brewery clerk, and his wife Ada. In 1904 he followed in the footsteps of his older brother Clarence by going to work for Beckett & Co of Leeds.

 

In 1914 Brooke left the bank to go on military service. Captain Percy Brooke of the West Yorkshire Regiment, attached to the Trench Mortar Battery, died in France on 28 March 1918. He was 30 years old and left a widow, Clara. His brother Clarence was killed in action three days later.
