Frank Burt

Frank Eliot Burt was born in 1895, the son of Albert and Henrietta Mary Burt of Lichfield, Staffordshire. He was educated at King Edward VI Grammar School, Aston, and then as a boarder at King Edward's Grammar School, Stratford-upon-Avon.

 

In about 1912 Burt went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as apprentice at its Walsall branch. Soon after the completion of his apprenticeship three years later, he moved to Lichfield branch as a clerk.

 

Burt joined the army in January 1916. In the course of his military service he was appointed Chevalier of the Order of the Crown of Belgium and awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre. By 1918 he was a Lieutenant in the North Staffordshire Regiment. He died in France on 3 October 1918. He was 23 years old.
