Harrison Woodrow Arnott was born on 8 November 1891, the son of Henry Dudley Arnott and his wife Christiana Ellen. In about 1909 he started work as an apprentice in National Provincial Bank of England. By the time he completed his apprenticeship three years later he was working at the bank's March branch, and was promoted to a clerkship there.
During the First World War Arnott joined the army, serving as a Private in The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He was killed in France on 3 May 1917. He was 25 years old.
