Edward Joseph Andrews was born in Hounslow, London, on 2 February 1887, the son of Peter G Andrews, a journalist and newspaper manager, and his wife Maria. He worked for The National Bank.
During the First World War Andrews left his job at the bank's London King's Cross branch to join the army, serving as a Rifleman in the London Regiment. He died on 21 February 1919. He was 32 years old.
Edward Andrews is commemorated on a bank war memorial at the Royal Bank of Scotland London Cavendish Square branch.
